Joan-picJoan Zhang is a D.Phil student reading Earth Sciences in the University of Oxford.

My current project is about Redox control of chromium in natural waters, which focus on a series of laboratory experiments designed to characterise the isotopic effects of abiotic and microbial processes controlling Cr migration in the environment. The study will provide important information for assessing bioremediation of contaminated chromium and Cr isotopes retained in the sedimentary record can then be used as a proxy for paleo-redox conditions.

Before my PhD, I did a master in Environmental sciences in Nanjing University, China, and Master in Environmental Engineering in imperial College London, UK. My researches were focused on Environmental biology and microbiology, toxicology and pollution control technologies.
