Dr Helen Williams

Helen Williams is a Senior Lecturer and NERC Advanced Fellow at Durham University since 2012. She obtained her PhD from the Open University (UK) in 2000 and has held postdoctoral research positions and fellowships at ETH-Zurich (Switzerland), Macquarie University (Australia) and the University of Oxford.

Her research interests centre around the use of transition metal and other “heavy” stable isotope systems as tracers to understand the formation and evolution of the terrestrial planets and Earth surface processes.

She was recently awarded a 2M euro European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant to use novel stables isotopes to investigate the roles of core formation and early plate tectonics in defining the evolution of the Earth as a habitable planet.
